HOW BODY BALANCE WORKS AT A CELLULAR LEVEL
by Christa Way, Medical Herbalist and Nutritionist
The combination of sea vegetables and aloe vera in Body Balance works in the body on many levels. The minerals in the sea vegetables cause a reduction of surface tension in our cell walls, allowing access right into the cell. With aloe vera as a super “carrier” of nutrients, this allows greater influx of oxygen that displaces the carbon dioxide trapped in the cells. This in turn allows greater uptake of nutrients into the cell and greater flow of toxins out of the cell.

I love my cup of green tea in the morning instead of coffee. And I knew it is one of those drinks that’s good for me (coffee, much as I love it, *really* disagrees with me). But the extent of the goodness continues to amaze… [Read more…] about New research shows green tea may reduce type 1 diabetes
I set out to find out how much truth there is in the story. Largely because having water in the car helps me drink more water everyday, and that’s a good thing. But was I killing myself while trying to be healthier? [Read more…] about Bottled water – friend or foe?
Going Raw is all the rage these days. And sometimes it just doesn’t suit my palate. But nuts are an exception. I do love roasted nuts, but I also realise roasted nuts contain rancid oils and rancid oils help muck up our hormones and our immune system. Over time, that usually ends up in one of many degenerative diseases, none of which I aspire to have in my sunset years.
So most of the nuts I eat are raw.

No-one has accused vegetables of being pretty, and one of the least attractive looking is seaweed. Yet seaweed nutrition is one of the best natural sources of life-giving vitamins and minerals available.
Seaweed (or the politically correct “sea vegetables”) has a huge advantage over land vegetables. Our oceans are constantly being renewed with nutrients from land and renewed with minerals. They range in colour from red to green, brown and black. Our land, however, is constantly being depleted of essential nutrients.
Minerals are elements or compounds formed by the earth, and are a necessary nutrients for the health and wellbeing of your body. As our land gets more and more overworked by agriculture, the natural renewing of the land is often pushed aside in favour of chemical fertilisers. The end result is an ever-decreasing resource of minerals in the soil and then our food.
The nutrition you can get from seaweed is can be as high as 20 times the mineral content from land vegetables.
Apart from vitamins and minerals, seaweed nutrition is high in protein, amino acids, omega-3 fatty acids, and dietary fibre. All of these combined promote a healthy body and may prevent or even treat a variety of diseases.
