Going Raw is all the rage these days. And sometimes it just doesn’t suit my palate. But nuts are an exception. I do love roasted nuts, but I also realise roasted nuts contain rancid oils and rancid oils help muck up our hormones and our immune system. Over time, that usually ends up in one of many degenerative diseases, none of which I aspire to have in my sunset years.
So most of the nuts I eat are raw.
Here’s a tasty recipe from Lola Berry for a healthy trail mix / snack mix that contains all sorts of goodies (antioxidants). They’re goodies for your body and goodies to taste and easy to buy at the supermarket.
- Dried pomegranate seeds
- Raw brazil nuts
- Raw almonds
- Goji berries
- Pepitas (pumpkin seeds)
- Raw sesame seeds
- Shredded coconut
